Adventures in Web Design
Regular readers (if you exist) might notice that things look a little bit different around here. The design has radically changed, my photos are more photo-y, my blog posts are cleaner, and overall things are just a little less buggy.
I hope, anyway.
For the longest time I had my site built on Wordpress, which had its positives and…a lot of negatives. The major downside to running a site on Wordpress is that it requires so many plugins to function properly. Themes, form plugins, analytics, you name it, it has to be installed, and probably paid for, to boot. Add that to the fact that almost none of them actually worked all the time (constant updates across Wordpress means that things break almost daily), and I spent more time just maintaining my website than I did actually creating.
So I moved. This site, the one you're currently reading, is built on Framer. Since I'm not a massive million-reader blog, I'm test-driving right now. If it works, I'll stick with it. The experience is clean, the design is nice, and there's a reliability to it that I wasn't finding elsewhere. But, if it doesn't work…I'll try something else.
The joy of being a small creator who makes art for the sake of making art is that, if something breaks, the world isn't going to fall down around me. I just get to fix it, and move on.
So: if you like the site, have feedback, or just want to send over any comments, I'd love if you sent me a note here. I'm always looking for critique and comments on my work (whether it's my website or my actual photography), so if you've got something to say, I'd love to hear it!
